    The Issues

    Erin's Priorities for District 5

Here are Erin's priorities for a stronger, safer, and more connected Hollywood.

    Lower Costs Through Responsible Leadership

Every dollar matters, especially as families continue to feel the impact of rising costs. As your Commissioner, I will focus on making sure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, government is accountable, and our city looks for every opportunity to reduce the burden on residents.

Residents work hard for their money, and City Hall should work just as hard to protect it. As your Commissioner, I will advocate for responsible budgeting, transparency, and practical solutions that keep Hollywood affordable while continuing to deliver the services our neighborhoods need.

    Key Priorities:

Review the city budget and spending priorities to identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure taxpayer dollars are delivering the greatest value.
Seek additional funding sources, including state and federal grants, to help pay for needed projects and reduce reliance on residents through higher taxes and fees.
Strengthen public-private partnerships that can help bring resources, investment, and innovative solutions to our community while protecting taxpayers.
Prioritize smart infrastructure investments that address roads, drainage, flooding, and aging systems while planning responsibly for long-term needs.
Support responsible growth and development that contributes to our community without placing unnecessary financial pressure on existing residents.

    Infrastructure and Flood Resilience

As our city grows and weather patterns become more intense, District 5 needs practical investments that protect neighborhoods and improve everyday quality of life.

Erin Marvasti has supported planning efforts that focus on neighborhood infrastructure and long-term improvements, including drainage, sidewalks, parks, and other community investments through her work on the Community Development Advisory Board.

    Key Priorities:

Flood mitigation and neighborhood drainage improvements
    Improve stormwater infrastructure and capacity
Identify and prioritize chronic flooding areas in District 5
Coordinate road, drainage, and utility projects to reduce repeated construction
Improve tree maintenance and vegetation management to support drainage
Invest in long-term infrastructure upgrades that reduce flooding risks
Pursue state, county, and federal funding for resilience and infrastructure projects

    Public Safety and Neighborhood Security

Every family deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood. Public safety means supporting police and firefighters, but it also means safer streets, cleaner neighborhoods, and strong partnerships between residents and the city.

Erin Marvasti has worked with neighborhood groups, schools, and community organizations for years because keeping neighborhoods safe takes everyone working together.

She is honored to have the support and endorsement of our first responders, including the Hollywood Police and Firefighter unions, because they understand what it takes to keep the community safe every day.

    Key Priorities:

Support law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders with the equipment, training, and resources needed to keep District 5 safe while improving emergency response times.
Increase routine patrols, strengthen relationships between residents and officers, and promote proactive engagement to address community concerns.
Implement traffic calming measures to reduce speeding, improve safety near schools and parks, and create safer streets for residents, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Address illegal dumping through improved enforcement, the use of technology to deter and identify offenders, stronger code compliance, better lighting, and continued investment in well-maintained public spaces.
Support planning, communication, and coordination efforts to ensure District 5 is prepared for storms, emergencies, and future challenges.

    Housing Stability and Affordability

District 5 is home to many working families, seniors, veterans, and residents who rely on affordable and workforce housing. As housing costs continue to rise, protecting existing housing and helping families achieve homeownership must remain a priority.

As Vice Chair of the Hollywood Housing Authority and a member of the Community Development Advisory Board, Erin has worked on housing issues, reviewed funding opportunities, and supported programs that help residents find and keep safe, affordable housing.

    Key Priorities:

Preserve affordable and workforce housing by maximizing county, state and federal funding
Expand homeownership opportunities through partnerships such as community land trusts
Support home repair and rehabilitation programs that help families and enable seniors to remain in their home
Encourage redevelopment that benefits existing residents and Hollywood's workforce

Erin will advocate for clean and attractive neighborhoods, strong parks and community programs, thriving local businesses, and a responsive city government that listens and delivers.

    Key Priorities:

Regular neighborhood beautification efforts including coordinated clean up days with residents, local organizations, and city services
Stronger, more consistent maintenance of public spaces such as medians, rights of way, and community corridors
Proactive tree maintenance to improve safety, visibility, and storm readiness while preserving neighborhood shade and character
Investment in safer, more walkable streets through sidewalk repairs, filling gaps in pedestrian networks, and improving ADA accessibility
Faster response and stronger enforcement to address graffiti, illegal dumping, and abandoned debris before they become long-term problems
Keep parks clean, safe, and welcoming through routine upkeep, restroom maintenance, lighting improvements, and consistent trash removal
Better coordination between city departments so issues are not passed around but actually resolved

Access to health and wellness programs is an important part of building a strong, active, and connected community. Supporting opportunities for residents to stay physically and mentally healthy helps improve quality of life across all ages, especially seniors and families.

Erin actively participates in and promotes local wellness programs throughout District 5. She attends and helps promote the weekly Aqua Zumba class at the Driftwood Community Pool, and she worked with residents to help bring yoga and Zumba programming to the Carriage Hills community. She also supports partnerships with healthcare providers, including Memorial Healthcare System, to expand wellness programming for seniors at the Boulevard Heights Community Center.

Expand access to community-based fitness and wellness programs
Support partnerships with healthcare providers to offer senior wellness services
Increase availability of free or low-cost recreational health programs in community centers

Supporting Our Local Businesses & Economy

District 5 is built by hardworking families and small businesses. Supporting local business growth while ensuring responsible use of taxpayer dollars is key to a strong and stable community.

As a small business owner for more than 20 years, Erin Marvasti understands the challenges business owners face—rising costs, regulations, and the need for a supportive city government that listens and responds. She has consistently been a proponent of supporting local businesses and strengthening neighborhood commercial corridors, and that commitment has been part of her work and community involvement for many years. That long-standing support is also why many in the District 5 business community are standing with her candidacy.

    Key Priorities:

Support small businesses and neighborhood commercial corridors
Streamline access to city resources and programs for small businesses
Pursue grants and outside funding to support local economic development
Encourage quality redevelopment that includes local business participation
Create job and economic opportunities for District 5 residents

    Environmental Stewardship and Neighborhood Resilience

Environmental issues in District 5 are closely tied to everyday quality of life like flooding, tree coverage, heat, and the condition of our parks and public spaces. A practical approach to the environment means making smart investments that protect neighborhoods and improve livability.

Erin Marvasti's work on the Community Development Advisory Board has included reviewing and supporting neighborhood improvement projects funded through federal Community Development Block Grants. Those investments have helped improve parks, sidewalks, street lighting, and other public spaces that contribute to cleaner, safer, and more resilient neighborhoods.

    Key Priorities:

Expand and maintain the urban tree canopy for shade and heat reduction
Support clean, well-maintained parks and public spaces
Promote water conservation and efficient use of resources
Encourage energy-efficient upgrades in public facilities
Reduce illegal dumping and improve environmental cleanup efforts
Prioritize maintenance that protects neighborhoods from storm impacts
Invest in greener infrastructure that also reduces long-term costs
Use available grants and partnerships to fund environmental improvements
